Description

CO2 diffusers no longer need to be inside your aquarium! For the first time, Cal Aqua Labs offers a CO2 diffuser that attaches inline to your canister outflow, concealing it from view of your aquarium.

The new 13 mm mini inline diffuser has a 25 mm diameter diffuser disc at the center encased within a glass chamber. Unlike many other inline reactors, the inline diffuser disperses CO2 with minimal reduction in flowrate. The input and output ports connect to 1/2" (12/16 mm) diameter tubing. Recommended for nano tanks and aquariums up to 30 gallons (approx. 200 liters). The unit also has two built-in attachment points for detachable suction cups and can be securely attached to the side of the tank. Supplied with two suction cups.

Features

  • One less equipment inside your aquarium
  • Enhanced CO2 dissolution via turbulent mixing
  • Minimal reduction in flow compared to many CO2 reactors
  • Small and compact size
  • Creates a fine mist of CO2 shown by many to further enhance plant growth
  • Reduce photosynthetic algae growth on diffuser disc when placed away from direct light (ie. outside of tank or inside tank cabinet)
  • Active flow around diffuser prevents debris buildup on diffuser disc

Usage

  • Install the diffuser in the outflow line of the canister filter according to the diagram below. The diffuser can be attached up high next to the aquarium, or down below inside the cabinet. Use a high-quality check-valve
  • CO2 from a pressurized source is recommended
  • Always wet glass surfaces before fitting tubing. Tubing can be soften by dipping in hot water
  • To prevent damage to glassware, do not use excessive force when fitting or removing tubing. We strongly recommend using soft silicone tubing for all glassware
  • Do not shake or tap the diffuser against hard surfaces

We recommend to use soft silicone tubing to connect the glassware in order to reduce the risk of glass breakage. The piece of hose used should be kept as short as possible in order to avoid unnecessary CO2 losses.
Silicone hose is not pressure resistant and therefore can not be used for connection to the pressure regulator.

Cleaning

When algae start forming on your glassware equipment or when larger and larger bubbles emerge from your ceramic diffusor it is time for cleaning. Glassware is easy to clean, however, it should be done diligently. After the cleaning process, your glassware products will be as good as new.

  • You'll need a household bleach containing chlorine without perfumes. When working with chlorine bleach, please make sure you absolutely observe the manufacturer's safety notes.
  • Pour some of the bleach into a container and mix with an equal amount of water. Mix so much of this solution that the glassware products you wish to clean are entirely covered
  • Soak the glassware in the solution for 1 to 4 hours (depending on the severity of the stains)
  • Take it out and rinse thoroughly
  • Now all the stains ought to be gone, and your glassware should shine as if new

You'll find an extensive how-to (in German) with pictures in our Aquascaping Wiki under Glaswaren reinigen.

Superb design, but I hoped that it wouldn't clogg as traditional diffusers you have in the tank! They clogg, but not as fast as the normal diffusers! (read more)
