Description

These oak leaves come from the mixed forests of the northern Blackforest and the Schönbuch region in southwestern Germany, large woodlands with clean air. All leaves are harvested directly from the trees in the autumn, not taken from the ground, thereby ensuring optimum quality. For freshwater shrimps, leaf litter is an important element of their natural habitats. In an aquarium, brown oak leaves are well suited as natural hiding places for shrimps. Oak litter also serves as food. The leaves are not eaten directly, but the shrimps rather feed on the microorganisms that develop on them, slowly decomposing the litter.

Compared with several other tree species, oak leaves have a long decomposition period and therefore a long application time.

In general, leaves with an especially long decomposition period should be present in each aquarium as hiding places.
