Description
Tillandsia juncea "Juncifolia", a member of the bromeliad family (Bromeliaceae), is a fascinating and adaptable air plant that originates from the forests of South America. This epiphytic plant is characterised by its long, thin, grass-like leaves, which give it an elegant appearance. Tillandsia juncea "Juncifolia" thrives in a wide temperature range from 10 to 30°C and prefers a relative humidity of between 50 and 70%. Its light requirements are moderate; it does well in both bright and semi-shaded areas as long as direct sunlight is avoided. Watering should be done mainly by regular spraying with soft, low-lime water to imitate the natural absorption of moisture through the leaves.
In terrarium design, Tillandsia juncea "Juncifolia" offers a variety of placement options, ranging from attachment to branches or stones to free-floating in the terrarium. Its ability to survive without soil allows for creative placement and makes it a highlight in any terrarium, especially in small to medium-sized terrariums, air terrariums or epiphytic arrangements. A special feature of this tillandsia is its flower, which, although it occurs less frequently, impresses with bright colours and interesting shapes. The flower colour usually varies between purple and blue and, when it appears, offers a spectacular sight against the green of the leaves. The combination of easy care, aesthetic versatility and the possibility of a flowering surprise makes Tillandsia juncea "Juncifolia" an enriching addition for terrarium enthusiasts looking for an exceptional plant with low maintenance requirements.
