Description

Neoregelia 'Martin Red', a fascinating ornamental plant from the Bromeliaceae family, originates from the tropical rainforests of South America and brings a touch of the exotic to any terrarium. This species is characterised by its impressive red colouring and broad, flat leaves that form an attractive rosette shape. As a true bromeliad, 'Martin Red' is perfectly adapted to humid environments and stores water in the central rosette of leaves, making it ideal for terrariums with high humidity. The plant prefers indirect light and moderate shade, which makes it particularly easy to care for. Its ability to thrive in a variety of light conditions and its preference for humid environments make it an excellent choice for keeping in a wide range of terrarium settings.

When placed in a terrarium, Neoregelia 'Martin Red' can be planted both as a solitary plant and in groups to provide vibrant colour accents and create a visually appealing environment. Its compact size means that it can also find a place in smaller terrariums without taking up too much space. The plant is not only popular for its decorative leaves, but also for its rather inconspicuous but attractive flowers that form in the centre of the rosette. These small, delicate flowers, often in shades of white or blue, contrast with the bright red leaves and attract extra attention when they appear in the terrarium. Neoregelia 'Martin Red' therefore not only offers an attractive appearance, but also a natural habitat and drinking source for small terrarium animals, making it a versatile and enriching element for any terrarium design.
