Description
Neoregelia 'Akeso' is a very small funnel bromeliad, a rare hybrid of Neoregelia ampullacea var. tigrina and Neoregelia lilliputiana, which combines the most beautiful characteristics of both wild types. The very narrow in diameter but thick-leaved bromeliad is an absolute musthave for small rainforest terrariums with its about 8 cm. It fits in almost every corner, impresses with its beautiful green tones and the small, ampullaceous rosette leaves. These thicker leaves, similar to N. ampullacea, can store a lot of moisture so that even short dry periods are well survived. Unlike many other bromeliads, the mother rosette does not die immediately after flower and pup formation, so this beautiful dwarf bromeliad will often stand in small groups.
The centre of the leaf rosette forms a funnel (also called a cistern) in which water accumulates and in which very short inflorescences grow nesting. The many small flowers open successively.
