Hypoestes phyllostachya 'White', known as the White Polka Dot Plant, is an attractive and eye-catching terrarium plant that originates from the moist, shady forests of Madagascar. This species belongs to the acanthus family (Acanthaceae) and is characterised by its unique foliage colouring, which is a visual highlight in any terrarium. The plant prefers warm, humid conditions, similar to its tropical habitat, and thrives best in indirect light. Direct sunlight should be avoided as it causes the leaves to fade and can cause damage. A well-drained, humus-rich soil and even watering, without the soil being waterlogged for long periods, are crucial for optimum care of this plant.
