The CO2 Flipper is an optically interesting alternative to conventional CO2 diffusers and is suitable for aquariums of any size in the various designs available. Instead of diffusing the CO2 into the water in the form of many small bubbles, the CO2 bubbles migrate up a staircase and give off the gas into the aquarium water on their way up.
After installation, the CO2 Flipper requires a running-in period of approx. 2 days. At first no single bubbles will migrate up the stairs, but will unite to larger bubbles, which will cease after a natural biofilm has formed on the stairs. The individual bubbles are now passing upwards and into the collecting tray, releasing CO2 into the surrounding water until only waste gas remains.

This was purchased for use in a 30l tank. I installed it correctly, and left it in for two weeks as it needs run in time. After two weeks, it was sending one bubble at a time up the ladder, as expected, but the bubble did not decrease in size on the way up, and the drop checker in the tank stayed blue no matter how high I turned up the CO2 regulator. Removed it and replaced with a proper diffuser, now I get 30mg per liter in the tank, as desired. I do not recommend this item, it did not work for me.
