Description

An easy-to-keep, time-tested crypt from Sri Lanka, also known under the name Cryptocoryne petchii. It is a triploid form of C. beckettii and develops lanceolate submersed leaves with an undulate margin, whose upper side is brown and whose underside is red. It does well in soft and hard water and still grows when the lighting is weak, however, it does better under moderate light.

The triploid form of Cryptocoryne beckettii was originally described as a species on its own, namely Cryptocoryne petchii. However, this beautiful and very widely spread plant, which belongs in the C. wendtii group, is readily available and has been in use in aquaristics for over 60 years.

It is very easy to cultivate, and possesses the typical characteristics of a Cryptocoryne from Sri Lanka. It adapts well to soft as well as to hard water, light is relatively unimportant, even though it grows better under more intensive light. The brown-green rosettes that form soon after the plant is placed in the tank spread quickly and form dense bushes. Nutrient-rich substrates enhance growth. The plant reacts nicely to ample fertilisation and to CO2, but it grows sufficiently well without these components, too. (read more)

Quali, Transport, alles Klasse! Schön wäre noch, wenn man vor dem Kauf von Wasserpflanzen erfahren würde, ob man emers oder submers gezogene Pflanzen bekommt. (read more)

Schöne Cryptocoryne. Pflanze wie abgebildet. Emerse Blätter sind bei Lieferung noch recht lang. Nach der Umstellung bleiben sie jedoch relativ klein/kurz. (read more)
