Birch bark plates are perfectly suitable as feeding place for shrimp and other invertebrates, and a natural and visually appealing alternative to glass ware feeding dishes. As feeding pad they avoid that remains of food pollute the substrate, leading to poor water quality. The birch bark plates also serve as natural grazing places for shrimps as they are overgrown with biofilms. In addition the bark plates provide hiding places for the shrimps in your aquarium. As additional benefit birk bark contains important substances that positivly influence the water quality, e.g. humic substances.
The birch barks are available in two sizes: 5 x 5 cm (perfect for nano aquariums) and 10 x 10 cm.

In the beginning the birch bark plates are floating but they will sink to bottom of the aquarium after a while. The bark plates can remain in the aquarium.

This item is unsinkable! It was floating for 15 days. Then, I decide (you guess it) to put it on boil water for 2 minutes in order to absorb some and guess what. It make a U shape, so now it can not be used as a feeding plate. And it is still floating. Nice texture, that’s why the 2 stars.
