Life Aqua - CO2

Why is CO2 important in the aquarium?

CO2 (carbon dioxide) is important in the aquarium because it plays an essential role in plant growth and the biological balance of the aquarium. Since CO2 from the atmosphere is only available to a very limited extent in an aquarium, it should be considered sooner or later to purchase a CO2 supply.

Life Aqua offers high-quality accessories to ensure that the CO2 supply to the aquarium is as simple and user-friendly as possible. The unobtrusive Single and Dual Gauge Regulators provide information about the cylinder pressure, the working pressure or both simultaneously with their pressure gauges. An integrated solenoid valve provides a night shut-off and a bubble counter is also integrated.

Among other things, plants need CO2 for photosynthesis, the process in which they use light energy to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen. Without sufficient CO2, plants cannot grow and thrive properly.

In addition, CO2 helps with nutrient uptake. The uptake of essential nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium plants is improved by the presence of CO2. This helps the plants to grow healthy and strong.

During photosynthesis, plants give off oxygen as a by-product. This oxygen is essential for the respiration of fish and other organisms living in the water.

By promoting plant growth, adequate CO2 levels in the aquarium can help curb algae growth. Plants compete with algae for nutrients, so healthy plants can help reduce algae growth.

Overall, CO2 in the aquarium is important to promote healthy plant growth, maintain biological balance and create an optimal living environment for fish and other aquatic organisms.
