Description

WIO Stream Gravel is a natural gravel with a complex colour composition. It is ideal for designing a rocky riverbed. When combining different grain sizes of Stream Gravel, an exceptionally attractive level of complexity and depth can be achieved. This gravel slightly increases water hardness and is perfectly suited for flow aquariums that represent mountainous landscapes. Stream Gravel creates particularly strong contrasts and visual complexity when combined with Heaven Sand.

Note

All WIO gravels are pre-washed. However, the manufacturer recommends briefly rinsing the gravel with cold water before use to remove transport-related abrasion. This also helps prevent sand particles from floating up when filling the aquarium.

Caution: risk of swallowing

Warnings:

Dust may temporarily irritate eyes and skin. Avoid contact and rinse with water if necessary.
Inhalation of dust may irritate the respiratory tract. Ensure adequate ventilation.
Small amounts may be swallowed by children or pets. This is not a toy. Keep out of reach.
Risk of slipping if material is spilled. Clean up immediately.

General information:

Handling dry material may generate dust. Rinse thoroughly before use and add slowly to the aquarium. Fine filtration helps to clear turbidity.
Calcareous variants may increase pH and KH values. Suitable for hard water such as in Malawi or Tanganyika aquariums, as well as brackish or marine setups. pH-neutral variants are suitable for softer biotopes. Monitor water parameters regularly.
Thick substrate layers may accumulate detritus. Shape the substrate with a slight slope, siphon carefully and avoid strong disturbances.
Colour and texture variations are batch-dependent and may vary slightly depending on lighting.
Store dry and airtight to prevent dust and moisture absorption. Keep away from food, children and pets. Transfer safely if packaging is damaged.

Handling instructions:

Preparation: Rinse thoroughly in a clean bucket until the water is mostly clear.
Distribution: Spread evenly. Do not compact the substrate too much in the aquarium. Shape with slopes for water flow.
Filling with water: Place a plate or plastic sheet on the substrate. Pour water slowly over it to avoid disturbance.
Start-up phase: Run the filter continuously. Partial water changes help remove fine particles.
Chemical selection: Use pH-neutral substrate for soft or neutral water. Choose calcareous variants for alkaline water. Monitor water parameters regularly during the first weeks.
Ongoing care: Siphon carefully and avoid stirring up dust.
