Description
This orchid is a generic hybrid of a Holcoglossum and a Vanda species, both distributed from southern central China to Thailand. It is a medium-sized plant, about 15 - 30 cm tall, with thick, grey-green adhesive and aerial roots and narrow-linear, thick and firm leaves with a groove on the upper side. A slender inflorescence appears at the base with a number of flowers about 1 - 4 cm wide. These have quite narrow, light purplish-pink petals, a pink-spotted lip and a yellow, red-spotted flower centre.
Holcoglossum subulifolium × Vanda coerulescens is a splendidly flowering, quite graceful perching plant for humid tropical to subtropical terrariums.
