Description
Staurogyne sp. "Bihar" has been known in the hobby in the US for a longer time, in Europe it is still very new. It has been brought on the market here only a short time ago. It probably comes from the state of Bihar in northern India. First it was thought to be a Hygrophila species. This Staurogyne is a strong, large stem plant with highly variable leaves and green to reddish-brown hues. Some of the leaves are lobed and resemble those of Hygrophila pinnatifida.
Staurogyne sp. "Bihar" was imported from the north Indian state Bihar as an alleged Hygrophila species. However, its flower characteristics suggest that this unidentified plant might belong to the genus Staurogyne. Its submersed leaves are partially lobed and thus looks like Hygrophila pinnatifida.
S. sp. "Bihar" is widely spread in the aquarium hobby in the USA. It was imported into Russia over a year ago, but in the rest of Europe, it has probably not made its way into the hobby yet.

Die Staurogyne sp. Bihar ist eine sehr robuste und zugleich schöne Pflanze. Diese ist nicht nur für den Mittelgrund sondern auch für den Hintergrund bestens geeignet.
