This Ludwigia is not yet determined to species and was found in the vicinity of Marilia in the Brazilian state Sao Paulo. It has roundish, alternate leaves that are depending on the light intensity light green to reddish to light-orange, especially in the shoot tips.
Ludwigia sp. "Marilia" grows rapidly to the surface; without trimming the shoots grow along the surface. Cutting of the stems enhances the development of side shoots. Ludwigia sp. "Marilia" is apparently not demanding, however medium to strong lighting and a good nutrient supply are recommendable.
Due to its size and fast growth, this rare South American Ludwigia is recommended for the aquarium background. It should also be interesting for South America-themed biotope tanks.
