Description
Jun Platinum Soil Black Powderis an active aquarium substrate with a fine grain size of 2,0 – 3,0 mm, developed specifically for freshwater aquariums. Made from 100% natural black soil, it creates a consistently soft and slightly acidic water environment. This substrate is particularly suitable for planted tanks and for keeping sensitive shrimp species such as Caridina.
Its natural phosphate-absorbing properties reduce algae growth and improve water clarity. Pigments released by driftwood and roots are effectively bound, resulting in crystal-clear water. The measured pH value is approximately 5,14 in distilled water with an initial pH of 6,0. In rare cases, a white powdery residue may appear on the soil, but it is completely harmless to aquatic life and plants.
Features
- Fine-grained active substrate for freshwater aquariums
- Made from 100% natural black soil
- Stabilizes soft, slightly acidic water (pH ~5,14)
- Adsorbs phosphates and pigments for clearer water
- Grain size: 2,0 – 3,0 mm
- Ideal for aquascaping and shrimp keeping
Note
The buffering capacity of active soil can affect the performance of water conditioners and pH-related care products. It is recommended to use this soil with reverse osmosis water, adjusted to the desired values using remineralizing salts (e.g., GH+). Not suitable for aquariums with hard tap water. A white surface residue may occur in rare cases but is harmless to all livestock and plants.
Application
Add the soil dry and unwashed directly to the aquarium. The recommended substrate height depends on the tank size and layout (approx. 4–8 cm). Fill the water slowly and gently to prevent stirring up the substrate. If necessary, use a layer of nutrient substrate underneath for long-term plant nutrition.
