Description
Jacaranda brasiliana pods are an extraordinary decoration element for every aquarium. Due to its natural growth habit these dried capsule fruits from Brazil are an exotic eye-catcher for your aquarium desgin. The opened pods serve as excellent hiding place for small aquarium inhabitants. Especially shrimps during moulting like to use this safe haven. The pods are suitable as spawning ground for small fishes, as well.
Jacaranda brasiliana pods are available in two sizes. The smaller version is outstandingly suitable for nano aquariums.

Usage
Initially, Jacaranda brasiliana pods are floating. The pod closes when it absorbs water. Its recommended to place a stone between the two halves of the pod to keep it in its desired opened shape. This also weights it until the pod is soaked with water. After about one or two weeks the shape of the pod is stable and the stone can be removed.

I do not know if mine was used, it did not come open like the one in the picture. I left it on a backet of water for one week changing the water daily and it smelled like hell... (read more)
These pods look very natural in an Amazon biotope and on top of that they will provide some kind of hide out for smaller animals too.
A perfect and completely natural decoration for the Amazon Aquarium biotope as well as a hide out for small animals!
