Description
This remarkable grass-like plant came onto the market via the ADA tissue culture range as "Eleocharis montevidensis" and is also known as "E. montevidensis var. 'ADA'". It is very different from the Giant hairgrass that we offer as E. sp. "montevidensis". Although the stems reach at least 30 cm in length in the aquarium, at around 0.4 mm thick they are as fine as those of the needle spikerush, Eleocharis acicularis. This plant certainly does not belong to the species E. montevidensis. Until it is identified more precisely, we are labelling it as Eleocharis sp. "Montevidensis ADA".
The submerged culms appear at intervals of about 1.8 - 2.2 cm singly or in small clusters on a stolonlike underground rhizome, which is just as thin as the stems. The growth is similar to that of E. acicularis, except for the height.
Eleocharis sp. "Montevidensis ADA" is apparently a fairly easy aquarium plant. At least medium light intensity and an unshaded spot are recommended. The addition of CO2 and a complete supply of macro- and micronutrients via the water column and/or the substrate will greatly promote the growth of this plant. For in-vitro plants, rinse off the culture medium and divide the plants into smaller clumps, which are best placed in the substrate with tweezers. If the "meadow" spreads beyond its allocated space, you can remove runners and possibly replant them elsewhere.
Eleocharis sp. "Montevidensis ADA" is an ideal addition to the range of grass-like aquarium plants. With a height of around 30 cm, it mediates between the Giant hairgrass (E. sp. "montevidensis") and E. acicularis, the latter of which in turn grows taller than the dwarf hairgrass (E. pusilla), and also has a fine texture. In smaller aquariums it can be used in the background, in taller tanks also as an accent in the midground and foreground. Interesting effects can be achieved by combining them with other spikerush species.

Pianta bellissima, la forma è come quella di eleocharis acicularis ma cresce più alta. Cup con tante piante sane.
