Description
DOOA Jungle Bottom is a structural substrate material designed for the lowest layer in paludariums and planted layouts that combine aquatic and terrestrial areas. It is specifically used in the bottom section, particularly in zones where water accumulation can lead to compaction and oxygen deficiency. Thanks to its porous structure, it improves aeration within the substrate and supports water circulation throughout the substrate system.
The material contains no nutrients and does not function as a plant fertiliser. It is used as a functional base layer beneath nutrient-rich substrates such as JUNGLE BASE and JUNGLE SOIL. In a three-layer setup, JUNGLE BOTTOM forms the lowest layer, providing stability and a long-lasting structure within the substrate system.
The grain structure consists of lightweight, naturally porous rock material in varying shades from light to dark. The particles are significantly larger than typical soil granules and are intended exclusively as a base layer, not as a visible top layer. This creates a natural, stratified appearance when viewed in cross-section. JUNGLE BOTTOM can also be used to build up volume in thicker substrate layouts and to reduce the overall weight of the substrate.
The material is suitable for both small paludariums such as the DOOA Glass Pot series and larger installations with complex substrate constructions.
