Description

Cryptocoryne sp. "Wallisii" is a water trumpet about which relatively little is known. Its exact botanical identity is not yet known. In appearance, it resembles members of the Cryptocoryne × willisii complex from Sri Lanka, but it produces broader leaves than forms such as C. × willisii 'nevillii'. When grown submerged, the plant reaches at least 10 cm in height and has ovate, mid-green leaf blades. Its natural appearance allows it to blend harmoniously into a wide range of aquarium layouts.

This slow- to moderately growing rosette plant is robust and easy to care for. It performs best under moderate lighting and adapts well to a wide range of water conditions. A nutrient-rich substrate encourages healthy root development, while CO2 supplementation and regular fertilisation can promote stronger growth. Like many water trumpets, Cryptocoryne sp. "Wallisii" often requires a short acclimatisation period after planting, but it then resumes growth reliably.

Cryptocoryne sp. "Wallisii" is an excellent choice for the midground of both small and large aquariums, as well as for the background of smaller tanks. It gradually forms attractive colonies by producing underground runners and combines particularly well with ferns, mosses and finely divided stem plants. Its relatively broad leaves clearly distinguish it from other water trumpets of a similar size.
