Description

Strictly speaking, cholla is not wood, but the skeleton of the cereus cactus. Due to its natural and unique structure, it provides an excellent hideout and an optimal retreat for all invertebrates. It is free from any chemicals and pesticides, while being very rich in potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Over time, a microbial biofilm develops. Therefore, shrimp and crayfish not only like to hide inside the cholla wood but also graze its surface intensively. The cholla wood is hollow inside and sinks rapidly to the bottom. In addition, it can be colonized by ferns, mosses, or algae, which makes it even more decorative.

This piece of Vuka wood is particularly long and the diameter varies between 2,5 - 4 cm. It provides shelter for a wide range of shrimps and other invertebrates. The surface has been sandblasted, giving it a very light-coloured appearance.

Cholla wood contains tannins that may cause discoloration of the water. To avoid this, soak it in water for a few days before use.
