Description
The Aquael BioCeraMax is a unique filter material for biological water filtration in freshwater and marine aquariums, paludariums, aquaterrariums and terrarium tanks.
BioCeraMax 600 is shaped like hollow cylinders and is made of porous ceramic material that provides a total surface area of approximately 600 m2.
BioCeraMax 1.200 and BioCeraMax 1.600 are filter materials made of sintered glass and thus offer an extremely high surface area of 1.200 m2 and 1.600 m2 respectively.
Over time, strains of beneficial nitrifying bacteria from the genera Nitrosomonas and Nitrospira settle in the pores of the material.
These nitrifying microorganisms metabolise waste products such as ammonia and nitrites into nitrates, which are much less dangerous for fish.
The Aquael BioCeraMax Multikani cartridge is a ready-to-use module for the Aquael Multikani filter, filled with the BioCeraMax 600.
It is ready for use immediately and requires no rinsing or other additional activities.
For best results, it is recommended to use the cartridge after the mechanical filtration and before the chemical filtration.
As the filtration is very strong, it is especially recommended for aquariums with large and many fish.
An Aquael BioCeraMax 600 Multikani module is capable of filtering an aquarium with a capacity of 320 litres.
The Multikani filter can also be extended to up to 8 modules.
The filter material can be used for a long time without needing to be replaced, but is subject to slow, gradual wear,
which reduces the effectiveness of the filtration over time.
To maintain optimal filtration, it is recommended to replace about one third of the BioCeraMax every 6-12 months.
When cleaning the filter, the filter material should be rinsed in the drained water of the aquarium.
The media should not be washed in tap water as the otherwise beneficial bacteria can be washed out.
