Description

These leaves are harvested from Red Hazel bushes in the mixed forests and their edges in the northern Black Forest in southwestern Germany and then carefully air-dried. As they are harvested directly from the trees and not taken from the ground, optimum quality is ensured. The Red hazelnut bush is a garden cultivar with dark red leaves that is meanwhile also occasionally found in the nature. Red hazel leaves provide a good alternation in the diet of shrimps. They are popular with all hobbyists who like to add natural products to the feed. Additonally, their coloration makes them an interesting eyecatcher in an aquarium.

Does it affect the water color?

The Hazelnut Leaves do change the water colour slightly because they contain humic acids that are emitted into the water. This effect, however, does not last for a long period of time. It is recommendable to use one leaf per 20 l of water only.
