Description

The Queen moss is one of the very few aquarium mosses from tropical America. It was first introduced as "Amblystegiaceae sp. Manaus" and later determined as Hydropogonella gymnostoma by a Japanese moss expert. It is a true water moos which colonizes in its natural area - Central and South America - substrates in waters such as tree trunks and stones. Until now, the Queen moss is quite rare in the aquarium hobby.

Hydropogonella gymnostoma develops delicate, soft, irregularly branched stems with freshly green leaves whose shape resembles a propeller blade. This aquatic moss grows bushy with more or less ascending stems. We do not have exact information about its culture requirements, however it is apparently not difficult, and for a moss it has a relatively fast growth.
