Description
This aquatic knotweed from Brazil is still very rare in the hobby in Europe. It has narrow lanceolate leaves, very much like Persicaria praetermissa from Asia and Australia, and a horizontal to ascending growth habit. Under good lights and an ample nutrient supply, the leaves assume an attractive reddish-brown hue. The central vein and some of the lateral veins are of a lighter colour, the leaf underside is wine red. This uncommon stem plant is most effective when planted as a loose independent group in the middle ground, it needs a bit of space due to its spread.
