Description
This tiny, grass-like plant was found in one of the Malili lakes on Sulawesi island where it grows on the sandy sea bottom, emersed on the shore as well as under water. This not yet identified Eriocaulon species has barely 2 cm long, arching, stiff leaves. The roots are relatively long. Eriocaulon sp. "Sulawesi" is a special rarity that is rarely available due to its low propagation rate.
Speaking from our experience, Eriocaulon sp. "Sulawesi" grows well with rather strong lighting, soft water, nutrient-rich substrate (Aquasoil) and a CO2 concentration of about 20-30 mg/L. This Eriocaulon grows very slowly, and with time it develops daughter rosettes which can be divided from each other for propagation. It occasionally develops inflorescences, also under water. In contrast to several other Eriocaulons, this species is perennial and continues to grow after flowering.
Eriocaulon sp. "Sulawesi" is best used in small and nano tanks, as a group in the foreground.
Please be aware that the bunch/potted variation of this plant could contain snails and other invertebrates.
